Mike:
We are talking about nearly a 700lb weight difference. Maybe the driver behind the wheel of the Vr4 sucked.
Dab:
what are you? a honda racer? yes, the zo6 is lighter, but we are talking a near 100hp at the wheel difference. thats alot. if the vr4 really was 550awhp, then it would not be getting beaten so badly. even if the vette is lighter, with the much more of a power advantage the cars should be similar at least
Anonymous:
Its already been confirmed that this is NOT a 550awph 3000gt but only a 450AWHP 3000gt vr4. A 550awhp vr4 would slaughter a c6 z06.

Do you guys even know what you are talking about? A 550AWHP VR-4 is going to be lucky to run mid to low 11s...the Z06 has been proven to run as fast as 10.8 with no mods except for drag radials, and keep in mind boys, those times are both from a standstill...both of these races were rolling which gives the vette a huge advantage and to be honest, I was VERY strongly surprised at how little the VR-4 got beat by. For the record, I've owned 4 different VR-4s over the years and had a few in the power range we are talking about. I love the car to death but you'd have to be crazy to pick it over the new Z06...at any level of modification. With turbos big enough to beat the Z06 in a straight line, you wouldn't see hardly any power until 4000rpm...that's not a very friendly daily driver.

So how does the powerband under 4krpm affect a race from a running start? You guys think VR4's have crap gearing or something? If the vr4 had the power... then it should've been a very close race. I would put the VR4 at a slight advantage if it had 550awhp. Maybe the kid meant to say 550HP.. and just shouted out AWHP cause he got excited?

With 830bhp 3000GT and a 505bhp C6- 3000GT is making bogus claims to its power, that C6 walked him pretty well for being at a 325 horsepower disadvantage. Lol, I want to see a race from a stop.

"You guys think VR4's have crap gearing or something?" No...they have pretty similar gearing to the C6 actually...but they weigh in at about 4000lbs, a large percentage of which (in comparison to the vette) is directly in the driveline. 4000lbs might not matter so much from the get go, but weight affects top end acceleration FAR MORE than it does in the lower gears...and yes, the powerband under 4krpm greatly affects a rolling race...because the VR-4 redlines at 7000rpm and loses boost between shifts...3000rpm of power is not much when your horsepower completely drops off for a second or so every shift...whereas in the Vette, you've still got some 75% of your power at the bottom of your powerband instead of 30% of it. As I pointed out before, a 550 horsepower at the wheels VR-4 is going to be running mid 11s with an amazing driver...and that's with the nice AWD launch taken into account. The Vette runs 10.8 with no upgrades but a new set of tires and that's from a stop...where a powerful RWD car is at its worst...it would have even more of an advantage from a roll and should absolutely decimate a 550awhp VR-4. |

This is retarded... if it was really a 550AWHP VR-4 it would beat it.. It's stupid to put these numbers down and for them to be wrong...
Looks like the VR-4 is a lot lower on power than it claims...
