Appeared to me that the mustang driver couldn't launch correctly. If you paired 2 competent drivers the stock mustang would edge out the win against the lexus. Now, if you do a cost comparison, the Lexus comes in at $37,000 vs the Mustang at $27,000. 10K is nothing to take for granted. If you took only $6000 and added it to modifications on the mustang, you'd be staring at a car that's very capable of 500 rear wheel horsepower. Since the internals of the mustang's v8 aren't forged, any more than that and you run the risk of breaking a rod. Take the other $4,000 and forge the internals, modify the transmission and differential, and you could easily transform the mustang into an 800+ HP and push 9s in the quarter. Fact is, that on a cost comparison, the Lexus can't touch the Mustang in performance. However, the Lexus will always have the better handling and ride.
Yeah the Lexus will also make you feel like a million bucks when you sit in it! Thats well worth the money :-) Comparing apples to oranges in regards to cost, but thats pretty impressive that a Lexus pulls like that.
